Gynecological surgery plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of both benign and malignant conditions affecting the female reproductive system. When planning surgery, we consider not only the treatment of the underlying condition but also the patient’s age, desire for future fertility, quality of life, and ability to return to daily activities as quickly as possible.
At our clinic, every patient undergoes a detailed evaluation, and the need for surgery is determined on an individualized basis. Whenever appropriate, minimally invasive surgical techniques are preferred, with the goals of reducing pain, minimizing surgical incisions, shortening hospital stays, and supporting a faster recovery.
Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopic surgery is a modern surgical technique performed through small incisions in the abdominal wall using a specialized camera and surgical instruments.
Laparoscopic surgery may be used for conditions such as:
- Ovarian cysts
- Endometriosis
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Fallopian tube disorders
- Uterine fibroids
- Pelvic adhesions
- Diagnostic laparoscopy
- Selected cases requiring hysterectomy
Potential benefits include less postoperative pain, faster recovery, smaller surgical scars, and an earlier return to daily activities.
V-NOTES (Vaginal Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery)
V-NOTES (Vaginal Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery) is an advanced minimally invasive surgical technique performed through the vagina without abdominal incisions. Depending on the patient’s individual suitability, it may be used for procedures such as:
- Hysterectomy
- Ovarian cyst surgery
- Fallopian tube surgery
- Surgery for selected benign gynecological conditions
Not every patient is a suitable candidate for V-NOTES. Eligibility is assessed following a detailed gynecological examination and appropriate imaging studies.
Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure in which a thin optical camera is inserted through the vagina and cervix into the uterine cavity for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Hysteroscopy can be used to evaluate and, when appropriate, treat conditions such as:
- Endometrial polyps
- Submucosal fibroids
- Intrauterine adhesions
- Uterine septum
- Causes of abnormal uterine bleeding
When appropriate, certain conditions can be treated during the same procedure.
Fibroid Surgery
Uterine fibroids are among the most common benign tumors of the uterus. Not every fibroid requires surgery.
Surgical treatment may be considered in cases involving:
- Heavy menstrual bleeding
- Anemia
- Severe pain
- Rapid growth
- Pressure on the bladder or bowel
- A negative impact on pregnancy plans
Depending on the patient’s age, the location and characteristics of the fibroid, and her plans for future pregnancy, myomectomy, which removes the fibroid while preserving the uterus, or hysterectomy may be considered when appropriate.
Ovarian Cyst Surgery
Most ovarian cysts are benign and can be monitored without surgery. However, surgical treatment may be necessary in certain cases. Surgical evaluation may be considered for:
- Large ovarian cysts
- Suspicious findings on imaging
- Severe pain
- Ovarian torsion
- Endometriomas (chocolate cysts)
- Cysts that increase in size during follow-up
The goal is to treat the condition while preserving as much healthy ovarian tissue as possible.
Endometriosis Surgery
Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological condition that may cause chronic pelvic pain, painful periods, and infertility.
Surgical treatment is planned according to the extent of the disease, severity of symptoms, plans for future pregnancy, and impact on quality of life.
Hysterectomy
Hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that may be performed to treat conditions such as uterine fibroids, heavy menstrual bleeding, uterine prolapse, adenomyosis, or certain gynecological diseases. Depending on the individual patient, the following approaches may be considered:
- Vaginal hysterectomy
- Laparoscopic hysterectomy
- V-NOTES hysterectomy
- Open abdominal surgery
The most appropriate surgical approach is selected based on the patient’s medical condition, anatomy, and individual needs.
Pelvic Organ Prolapse Surgery
Prolapse of the uterus, bladder, or bowel can significantly affect quality of life.
Symptoms may include:
- A sensation of a bulge or mass in the vagina
- Difficulty urinating
- Urinary incontinence
- A feeling of pelvic pressure
- Discomfort during sexual activity
Treatment is planned according to the patient’s age, severity of prolapse, symptoms, and individual expectations.
Urinary Incontinence Surgery
For women with stress urinary incontinence, which may occur during coughing, sneezing, or physical activity, surgical treatment can be an effective option in appropriate cases. When indicated, procedures such as:
- Retropubic TVT (Tension-Free Vaginal Tape)
- TOT (Transobturator Tape)
may be considered as part of the surgical treatment plan.
Preoperative and Postoperative Care
Before every surgical procedure, patients receive detailed information about the planned treatment, the surgical process, potential risks, and recovery. Following surgery, recovery is closely monitored, with attention to pain management, wound care, return to daily activities, and follow-up examinations.
Our goal is not only to perform successful surgery but also to support our patients in recovering safely and returning to their quality of life as soon as possible.
Personalized Surgical Planning
Every gynecological condition is different, and every patient has unique needs. For this reason, treatment decisions are made by considering the findings of a detailed examination, appropriate imaging studies, laboratory results, and the patient’s individual expectations together.
Through modern surgical techniques, current evidence-based approaches, and patient-centered care, we aim to provide safe, effective, and individualized treatment options for women’s gynecological health.
